I think we all can take a lesson from this. Whatever one's profession, to a lesser or greater degree, there will always be a competitive element. But we don't have to lose our humanity in the process. I've discovered that the jerks in my profession -- maybe in yours, too -- sometimes get ahead, but it never lasts: karma comes back to bite them, and the ensuing schadenfreude is pretty...
Deep down, we all think (or we should, at least) think we're worth more than we're being paid. But many of us leave money on the table despite those thoughts. Check this out the next time compensation issues present themselves.
