Every courtroom in America has local rules. Some are silly, some are necessary, but they are rules all the same. I do not know - because I haven't investigated - whether there were published rules prohibiting members of the bar from wearing political messages, but if that was, indeed, the case, then I believe the court was right in enforcing its rules. This had nothing to do with how one comes down on BLM; rather; it was about, I believe, standards of decorum and respect for the bench. I have had many judges over the years say things with which I disagree, but I knew that was neither here nor there. And perhaps this attorney should have realized the same. And I now invite your comments.
